Jack Ma opens pub in Hangzhou

At the stroke of midnight on 7 January, Jack Ma's pub, HHB Pingtouge, officially started business in Hangzhou. Celebrities such as Wang Han, Kevin Tsai, Gao Xiaosong, Barbie Hsu attended the opening ceremony.

The pub's logo is "Pingtouge" -- same as Ma's new AI chip company established last September -- which translates as honey badger, an animal with which Ma identifies owing to its perseverance in adverse conditions. HH stands for happy and health.

Ma sang Hiroshima Mon Amour at the pub and said the goal is not to make money as much as creating a space around themes including wine, music, wine and friendship.
