Chinese electronics giant Huawei Technologies will debut its first smart television in April, for which screen maker BOE Technology Group is the original equipment manufacturer, financial news website JRJ.com reported, citing sources. This move may break Xiaomi's stranglehold on China's smart TV sales.
Rumors have long circulated that Huawei plans to produce TVs. Its Honor unit is gearing up to position itself in the TV market and is angling to break into the top three in China's TV market in three years, Honor president Zhao Ming has publicly stated.
The company may not brand its TVs 'Honor,' but instead directly style it 'Huawei'.
