Chinese dating application Tantan has said it is doubling its user base in India every three months. The app was launched in the country last year.
The company did not disclose the number of user downloads from India. Rahul Maheshwari, India head at Tantan, said their user base in India comprises young millennials with an average age of 24, residing in tier-I and tier-II cities.
Tantan, which is the most popular dating app in China with over 90 million users, competes with Tinder, Truly Madly, Happn, Azar and Bumble in India.
According to market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, Tantan is the world’s third-largest earner after Tinder and Bumble.
Tantan’s international team has over five people with a consistent focus on India. It plans to start an office in India in the coming months, and is expected to hire more talent locally to drive growth.
