Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released a Consultation Paper on 'TrafficManagement Practices (TMPs) and Multi-Stakeholder Body for Net Neutrality' seeking comments of all stakeholders.
Earlier, TRAI issued recommendations on 'Net Neutrality' on the 28th November 2017, covering principle of non-discriminatory treatment, application, exclusions and exceptions, loT and Specialized services, Transparency and disclosures, monitoring and enforcement etc.
DoT issued its principle directives on Net Neutrality. Further, DoT sought additional recommendations from TRAIon Necessary Traffic Management Practices (TMPs) and Composition, functions, role and responsibilities of the multi-stakeholder body for monitoring and enforcement.
The objective of this Consultation Paper is to deliberates the issues related to traffic management practices and the Multi Stake Holder body Net Neutrality. Paper discusses about various challenges in measurement of internet traffic and compilation of reasonable traffic management practices. It discusses about establishlllent of a frarnewor k to forrrru late TMPs.
