Swedish furniture and home furnishings retailer Ikea is likely to start its e-commerce operations in India by March 2019. The company will create a multi-channel experience for its customers in India.
After opening its first Indian outlet in Hyderabad, it will launch another store in Mumbai later this year and will introduce other touch points “to bring the brand closer to customers.”
By 2020, Ikea claimed it will open a 500,000 square-feet outlet in Bangalore that will employ 800-1000 employees. It said by 2025, it wants to have 25 stores across India.
Ikea India CEO, Peter Betzel said with well-designed and functional home-furnishing solutions available in its physical stores, the company wants to contribute to a better everyday life for people of Bangalore.
