JD.com, China’s second -largest e-commerce platform, will launch a flagship online store on Google’s shopping platforms to sell directly to American consumers by the end of the year.
The online retailer, now counting on an international expansion to help offset slowing growth at home, is preparing to be hosted on Google’s platforms, which lately pays efforts in getting into e-commerce and earn more advertising revenue.
The partnership with Google is in the hope to carve out a bigger US footprint even as trade tensions between the US and China grow, which could inflate shipping costs or impose a hefty levy on imported goods.
