Xiaomi ships 100 mn smartphones in 10 months

Xiaomi, the world’s fourth largest smartphone vendor, has reached its annual goal of 100 million units on October 26 night, two months ahead of plan, the company's chief executive Lei Jun said on his Sina Weibo account on October 27.

Its phone shipments in the first 10 months increased 43 per cent year on year, compared to the 70 million shipments in the same period last year, reaching its annual target two months earlier as well. In comparison, Huawei, China’s largest smartphone maker, achieved 100 million shipments early in July.

Xiaomi’s better-than-expected shipments stand in contrast to the unsatisfying performance of its shares, which have slumped 30 per cent since their debut in Hong Kong in June, when Xiaomi raised USD 4.72 billion.
