JD.com logs CNY 6 bn in sales within the first hour of Singles’ Day campaign

JD.com, the second biggest e-commerce company in China, kicked off on November 1 the Flash Deals campaign, a run-up to the actual festival, and logged a record CNY 6 billion in sales within the first hour, shows figures provided by JD.com.

Over 20 million products offered flash sales, which refers to limited-time discounts, on the first day. In the first hour of Flash Deals, smartphones, flat screen TVs, air conditioners, gaming laptops, and refrigerators were the top five categories in terms of sales.

Comparing to the same time the previous year, sales of the international shopping site doubled, ultrabooks sales tripled, alcohol and beverages sales grew more than 3 times, and smartphone sales more than doubled.
