Amazon’s cloud business in India posted a threefold increase in revenue from operations at Rs 1,206 crore for fiscal 2018 from Rs 397 crore the previous year. The growth primarily reflects increased custom usage of cloud-related services, partially offset by pricing changes, the company said in its filings with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
Amazon Internet Services (AISPL), the reseller for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in India, also reported a profit of Rs 28 crore, compared with Rs 10-crore loss the previous year. Amazon Data Services, the data processing and hosting entity, reported revenue of Rs 945 crore, compared with Rs 243 crore the year before. “We continued to contract more capacity at better terms seeking benefits of economy of scale and improved power operational efficiencies and power utilisations,” the data services entity said.
